How It Works

How it works

IPL light covers a broad band rather than a single wavelength. Deciding which band to let through, by means of a filter, is the heart of it. The more finely the filters are divided, the more closely the setting can be narrowed to the depth and degree of the pigment. Cellec IPL has nine filters, so melasma, blemishes, redness and dilated capillaries are each handled under different settings. The light applied is absorbed selectively by melanin pigment, so we mainly use it to clear pigment sitting in the epidermis across a wide area.

About these figures
The treatment times, intervals and durations given here are the reference values we set out at the consultation. They can differ with the condition of the skin, the area and the session.

Mechanism

What it treats, and how

  • 01

    The filter makes the setting

IPL light covers a broad band, so the filter that decides which band gets through is in effect the setting itself. The more finely the filters are divided, the more closely the setting can be narrowed to the depth and degree of the pigment.

  • 02

    A nine-filter configuration

Melasma, blemishes, redness and dilated capillaries each respond in a different band. Nine filters let us divide the settings by condition.

  • 03

    A wide area, briefly

It covers a large area at once, so we use it to clear epidermal pigment across the whole face in a comparatively short time. Deeper pigment is looked at separately, with another device.

RECOMMENDED FOR

Who we suggest this for

Even if none of these apply, we look at your skin at the consultation first, then advise.

  • If spots, melasma, blemishes, freckles and age spots are all present
  • If you want epidermal pigment cleared across a wide area
  • If redness and dilated capillaries are on your mind as well
  • If pigmentation has darkened since pregnancy or childbirth

FAQ

Frequently asked about Cellec IPL

Will melasma clear as well?

Melasma varies in cause and depth, and in many cases a single device does not settle it. We identify the type first, then plan how to combine Cellec IPL with the toning devices.

Can I have this in summer?

You can, but managing sun exposure between sessions matters. If that is difficult at this time of year it can be better to adjust the timing, and we decide that together at the consultation.
